We are - as Yuval <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Noah Harari<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> says in his book \u201c21 Lessons for the Twenty-first Century\u201d - now and always, in a changing, volatile context, we have no certainty about what will happen tomorrow, which is complex and often ambiguous. People tend to seek serenity, comfort, stability, calm and this uncertainty creates some anxiety. So in an environment like the one just described, how should the education system respond?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Los <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">docentes <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">est\u00e1n utilizando herramientas virtuales que les permitan realizar sus clases del mismo modo como las hac\u00edan anteriormente. Muchos docentes est\u00e1n <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">desbordadas\/os por virtualizar sus clases presenciales y sobretodo quieren poder verificar \u00ab\u00a1que hagan cosas!, \u00a1que trabajen!, \u00a1que avancen contenido!.&nbsp; La pregunta es: \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 intentamos actuar del mismo modo?, es decir, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 tratamos de <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">virtualizar <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lo que hac\u00edamos presencial si el contexto, las emociones, el presente y el futuro son absolutamente distintos?&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The fact of not knowing what online education is, makes people to prioritize aspects that we know are not the priority of learning. We know that what is necessary in moments of uncertainty, of some anguish and where each and everyone must adapt to conditions unknown until now, is to prioritize and give value to emotional well-being and human, social and cognitive development of our students.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><b>Yeah, but...&nbsp; <\/b><b><i>how can we do that?<\/i><\/b><b>&nbsp;<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First we need to define our <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">priorities as educators<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: what weighs more: the person or the curriculum vitae? We love reading Yuval Noah Harari, and especially one of his quotes that fits like a glove on the hand for these moments:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\"<\/span><\/i><b><i>The most important investment that people can make<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is not to learn a particular skill\u2014\u2019I\u2019ll learn how to code computers,\u2019 or \u2018I will learn Chinese,\u2019 or something like that. No, the most important investment is really in <\/span><\/i><b><i>building this more flexible mind or personality<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ynharari.com\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yuval Noah Harari<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">We must understand the current situation as the possibility of creating new horizons, new ways of understanding education, an opportunity to grow. Resilience, together with neural plasticity, facilitate this task.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Neuronal plasticity is the ability of our brains to form new connections between neurons and adapt to new situations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As Anna For\u00e9s and Jordi Gran\u00e9 explain in their book \u201cResilience. Growing from adversity\u201d, \u201cresilience is walking through life with a two-sided coin\u201d knowing that \u201chuman beings have the ability to be screenwriters and protagonists of their own stories\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Here is a quick exercise:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><b>EXERCICE<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Put on the brake, stop. What is necessary for your students to learn in the current context?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You have some answers, right?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well, and in the current situation, what has changed? It consists of carrying out actions and reflecting on one\u2019s own experience, but at the same time, reflecting on the topics that are addressed by being an active agent of learning in that context and considering the process of experimentation.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remember that for an existing<strong> learning there must be <\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>some kind of emotion<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Francisco Mora, 2017), and that emotion must start from a motivating element. Without emotion there is no learning, so we will get them to learn when we humanize and contextualize learning, starting from their interests and taking into account their previous experiences.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moreover, experimenting, living what we do with passion, facilitates us to achieve our goals, opens our minds, helps us to create, to try, to fail and to succeed, and through trial and error, interaction with peers and reflection, we can achieve the unreachable.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.bechallenge.io\/en\/21st-century-skills\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">competencies <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that our students must develop in the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">21st century<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are widely done through experiential learning correctly implemented. Some of these are conflict resolution, analytical thinking, digital competence, reflective judgment, learn by learning, communication and relationship skills, knowledge management, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><b>The role of teachers in experiential learning<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, let\u2019s design learning scenarios that involve students in learning experiences, in authentic experiences. Imagine how many options we have to raise!&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Creating learning experiences is not easy. The solution, through this active and experiential learning, is obtained by the students, but the teacher is a fundamental piece for achieving their success.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.bechallenge.io\/en\/aprendizaje-basado-en-retos\/\">Techniques or methodologies <\/a>such as: Problem Based Learning, Case Based Learning, Simulation, Workshops, Laboratories, Project Based Learning, Challenge Based Learning, Inquiry, are the result of experiential learning, and are very appropriated to be worked both <a href=\"https:\/\/bechallenge.io\/\">online<\/a> and face-to-face.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><b>The use of technology<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tecnolog\u00eda <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nos ofrece la posibilidad de interactuar con las dem\u00e1s personas de la misma forma como lo hac\u00edamos antes, con el \u00fanico inconveniente que supone la distancia f\u00edsica, la falta de contacto.
